Larissa Leonhard earned a degree in Communication Science (B.Sc.) at the University of Hohenheim from 2012 to 2015 and at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (M.A.) from 2015 to 2017.
From 2017 to 2023 she was a research assistant at the University of Leipzig under Prof. Dr. Anne Bartsch and worked, among other things, on a DFG project on entertaining forms of political communication. In 2024, she completed her PhD (Dr. phil.) at the University of Leipzig on the topic "Formative Media Experiences. A Mixed-Methods Study from a Theory of Resonance Perspective".
Since April 2023, she works as an academic assistant at the research and teaching department of Prof. Dr. Ruth Wendt.
Larissa Leonhard's research interests are in the field of media literacy research, with a focus on digital media literacy, especially of children and adolescents, and in the field of media reception and impact research, with a focus on formative media experiences as well as entertaining forms of political communication and associated potentials (e.g. information processing, knowledge acquisition, opinion formation, participation).
